"The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled."

I have a doctorate degree in education/communication from Columbia University, NYC. I have also masters in History and masters in Communication degrees. My area of interest is primarily focused on design issues in the area of interactive health communication. My dissertation topic was – The Significance of Design: A multimodal Analysis of Government and Non-Government HIV/AIDS Websites.
I have been teaching Interactive Digital Media for 6 years at Drexel University and 11 years at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. Other than designing and teaching face-to-face classroom based courses, I have designed and taught several online courses in Web Development at Drexel University.
In recognition and commitment to my teaching, The Art Institute of Philadelphia conferred upon me the title of "Professor." The college also awarded me with the “Teaching Excellence Award” and the “Honored Faculty of the Year Award”.
During the last 10 years of my teaching career, I have had the privilege and pleasure to see so many of my students become successful in their careers.
My personal goal is to bring about flexibility in teaching. I have the firm believe that each student is a unique individual and each student brings something interesting to the class discussions - and that is what makes each class so unique. This also means that each student has his/her own unique dreams. I persuade the students to learn one important thing in class (as well as in life) and that is they must question. This will help them develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Finally, I firmly believe that the critical ingredients of a good teacher are passion for learning and dedication to teaching.
